How it works

Introducing a new generation of pain relief.
Inspired by nature, clinically tested.

awaye embodies a new generation of relief from both acute and chronic pain.

Its unique formulation combines two active ingredients, capsaicin and ß-caryophyllene, that act on the endocannabinoid system and work in perfect synergy with the body to provide effective pain relief.

First of its kind

The awaye formulation is the first of its kind offering safe, non-addictive, clinically tested pain relief. awaye topical cream doesn’t numb or dull the senses to distract from the pain, but rather works with the body to relieve the pain at its source.

Unique formulation

awaye has a unique formulation with dual action ingredients that specifically targets the endocannabinoid system, our body’s built-in system involved in managing pain and inflammation. The first ingredient, ß-caryophyllene, activates specific receptors in the body to help reduce pain without affecting mental functions. A natural component found in several essential oils, ß-caryophyllene has been shown to be clinically effective in relieving pain and inflammation.

Blocks the pain

ß-caryophyllene works in conjunction with our second active ingredient, capsaicin, a natural extract from Cayenne pepper. Capsaicin decreases the levels of a specific chemical that sends pain signals to the brain. Capsaicin not only helps block pain messages in the body but also creates a slight warming effect which, in itself, has a soothing therapeutic benefit.

awaye™ is non-addictive, non-irritating, and approved by Health Canada as a natural health product.

awaye and the Endocannabinoid System

There are a number of pain defense systems that operate in the body. One of them is called the Endocannabinoid System or ECS for short. The ECS is a complex system of internal communication. It is present throughout the body and interacts constantly with other systems, including the endocrine, immune, circulatory and lymphatic systems. It consists of cannabinoid receptors called CB1 and CB2, located on the surface of cells, as well as molecules named “endocannabinoids”, which humans produce naturally and that are able to bind to these receptors. This specific link, such as a key opening a lock, will activate various reactions within the body. The main function of this system is to react to different “stressors” in order to allow the internal environment to maintain its equilibrium state, which is called homeostasis. The latest research shows that alteration of ECS function can contribute to pain and inflammation.

What separates awaye from other topical pain products is its unique dual action formula that specifically targets the body’s endocannabinoid system.
The first ingredientß-caryophyllene, is a natural dietary cannabinoid compound found in several essential oils, including rosemary, oregano, hops, cloves, cinnamon, black pepper and cannabis. It is one of the first currently known natural compounds acting specifically on CB2 receptors, hence its ability to activate the endocannabinoid system for the relief of pain and inflammation.
The second agent, capsaicin, is the active component of Cayenne pepper (Capsicum annuum/frutescens). Used externally, it blocks certain chemical messages sent by the body (substance P, an agent present in the peripheral nerves), which normally transmits the sensation of pain. In addition, its “heating” action stimulates local circulation by bringing blood to the surface of the skin, improving oxygenation and enhancing the elimination of toxins, thus reducing local tissue congestion.

The location of CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body

CB1 Receptors
These are located primarily in the body's nervous system and, when activated, lead to the psychotropic effects (the "high”) one associates with marijuana.
  • Brain
  • Vascular System
  • Reproductive Organs
  • Lungs
  • Muscles
  • Gastrointestinal Track
CB2 Receptors
These are mainly located in the body's immune system and, when activated, can assist with relieving pain and inflammation but without affecting mental functions.
  • Spleen
  • Bone
  • Skin
CB1 & CB2 Receptors
The following regions of the body contain both the CB1 and CB2 receptors.
  • Liver
  • Immune System
  • Pancreas
  • Bone Marrow

How Awaye™ Helps

Over the last decade, our team of scientists and medical doctors have been researching ways to exploit the ECS in order to find new ways to relieve pain and inflammation. awaye leverages the body’s ECS by specifically activating the body’s CB2 receptors to relieve pain and inflammation. The result is the fast and effective relief of pain without affecting mental functions or causing addiction like other pain medications.
